Flavio Got His Life Back By Losing Weight

How I Got Here

In 2016, I went to the doctor for some blood work, and the results that came back weren't good. My cholesterol was high, I was bordering diabetes, my liver was in a bad way and I was obese. The doctor told me I needed to make some serious changes in my life. Like a lot of blokes, however, I didn't take my doctor's advice and continued on with my ways. 

At the time, my diet left a lot to be desired. I rarely ate breakfast and lunch and drank 4 or more cans of soft drink every day. Because I'm on the road most of the day with my job, I was always on the go and never really took a chance to eat healthily or prepare meals. It didn't help that I had a sweet tooth and craved chocolate and soft drinks all the time either.

Weighing in at 115kg, I was tired all the time and I couldn't sleep through the night.

My wife was constantly saying to me that I needed to do something about my weight, but I never took her seriously. Eventually, she just gave up on it.

It took me about two to three weeks after the diagnosis before I decided to do something about it. With my wife supporting me, I decided it was time to get serious.

 

Getting Started

When I decided I was going to do something about it, I immediately cut back on all the crap I was eating. It was hard cutting out the caramel lattes, soft drink, and chocolate, but I knew I had to do it. 

I got talking to one of my mates at the races one day, and he said he had lost 17kg on The Man Shake. After a bit of research on it, I decided to give it a crack. 

I started having The Man Shake for breakfast and lunch with a piece of fruit for my two snacks, and a healthy meal at night. While my night time meals had been relatively healthy before, it was the portion size that I now had to work on. I also started walking 5km's every night when I got home from work. 

The first couple of weeks were a bit disheartening having only lost 5 kilograms, but I knew I had to push on. 

I signed up for the 10 Week Man Challenge a few weeks in and found it fitted into my routine well. I'd still go for my walk in the afternoon, but I'd then do the 10-minute workout most evenings on top.

My wife started preparing some of the meals I found on The Man Shake site, and they turned out to be really easy and quick to make, and super yummy and filling. 

Within a month, the results were showing. My clothes were coming too big for me, and I had to buy a belt to keep my pants up. 

Flavio lost 31 kilograms in 12 months.

I had a new set of blood tests done a year later, and everything had completely turned around. My liver was fine, my cholesterol was within normal limits, and I was no longer anywhere near the risk of diabetes. My doctors were amazed at my results.

I've now gone from an XXL shirt to a Medium, and 102 work shorts to an 87. I'm still losing weight, setting reasonable goals and walking every night, and now I actually look forward to doing it all.

If you're starting out, just do it. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I have lost so much weight but I have gained my life back. I owe everything to the Man Shake people/staff for their continuous support, as well as my Wife's continued love and support.

Don't set yourself massive goals. Go step by step; 2 kilograms at a time; and acknowledge the little achievements.
