With so much information around losing weight, trending diets, what you can't eat, and exercise till the wheels fall off, it can be hard to understand HOW to lose fat.

Unfortunately, many of the tips out there just set you up for failure. Fad diets, cold turkey, whatever it may be, it's all crap and won't help you long term.

It's tough to know what does and doesn't work when trying to cut the gut. In this article, I'll tell you the tips that actually work, and will help you lose that belly, fast.

1. Eat More Protein

What? Eat more to lose weight? Well, essentially, yes. But it's not how much you eat, it's what you eat. Protein is key for building muscle, but it's also important for any body transformation, fat loss included.

Protein speeds up your metabolism, which means you burn more calories processing food. It also leaves you feeling more satisfied after meals, controlling your appetite longer than other carb heavy foods.

High protein foods like Beef, Chicken, Salmon, nuts, and beans and legumes are staples to have in your daily diet. The Man Shake also contains 30g of protein per serve, more than any other natural source.

Food labels can be confusing. We don't all have the time to stand in the aisle and compare products and labels. However, a few quick tips can make shopping for healthy food a whole lot easier and quicker, which will, in turn, help you lose weight.

No matter how 'healthy' the packaging looks, ALWAYS read the label on the back. You want to avoid high sugar (over 8g per serve) and high carbohydrate content. You will be surprised!

After a day at work, the last thing most of us want is to head home and get stuck into the yard. You'd be surprised how good household maintenance is for your body, though. Kill two birds with one stone, and think of it as a chance to speed up your metabolism and burn some fat.

Things such as mowing the lawn, clearing weeds or even sweeping can all add up.

Yes, you've heard it a million times. The reason: It works. We are not saying to ditch them altogether, but just start thinking about what kind of carbs you are eating in a day and how much. Bread is a staple food in many diets. Unfortunately, it's also quite high in carbs and generally low in fibre.

White bread is the main culprit. It's made from refined grains, which may have a negative effect on your weight and it wreaks havoc on your blood sugar levels. So keep having your sandwiches, but swap for a healthier bread like 100% whole wheat, Ezekiel bread, or even wraps.

After a long hard day at work, there is nothing better than grabbing a beer and collapsing on the couch. Now, there is nothing wrong with that, you more than deserve it, but if you find you are doing it every day and again on weekends then we have to have a talk. If you are on the road to losing weight, then every step counts. Literally.

Before you collapse onto the couch and fall into the abyss that is television, take the dog for an arvo walk around the block, play with the kids in the yard, or get some stuff done around the house. Over time, it builds up and won't just be good for your waistline, it'll make a huge difference to your mental game.
