5 Hacks For Losing Love Handles Fast

Despite their name, there isn't much to love about these stubborn fatty areas on your side.

Unfortunately for us blokes, we are much more likely to store fat around the stomach than women.

The problem with fat in these areas is that it stores around vital organs, and is difficult to get rid of.

Don't just accept your love handles, here are 5 hacks to cut them away quickly.

1. Cut out added sugar

Now you know this advice already, but for good reason. Cutting down on added sugars is important for a healthy diet in general, but it's increasingly important when trying to lose body fat.

Consuming excess added sugars can lead to an increased amount of body fat, most of which goes to your belly and leads to love handles.

Added sugars are found in most processed foods - lollies, chocolate, soft drink, and junk food in general. This does not include natural sugars found in fruit.

2. Sleep it off!

Your body suffers if you don't get adequate amounts of sleep. Sleep deprivation increases cortisol levels in your body, which in turn can make you gain fat (and your stomach is where it is most likely to go).

Studies have found that people who get 7+ hours of sleep per night weigh less and have less fat than those who get fewer hours, so make sure you get your 8 hours in!

3. Exercise

If you've got stubborn fat that just won't drop off, you're going to have to sweat it off.

Don't be intimidated by exercise, not only will you feel great but it can be fun. And it doesn't just have to be walking, you can play sport, go to the gym, wherever your interest lies.

The more you move it, the more you lose it.

4. Drink More Water

Us blokes are idiots. Drinking 3L of water a day seems impossible, yet we'll easily knock back 6 schooners in an afternoon. Remember, it's not called a beer gut for no reason.

If you want to get rid of those love handles, you'll have to substitute sugary drinks, the beers, and the sweetened coffees for more water. Not all the time, but if you're drinking a few cans of coke a day and then beers on the weekend, it adds up very, very quickly.

We refer to these as 'empty' calories because they add big amounts of carbs and sugars to your day, without offering any nutrients or even filling you up.

Cut back on the crap, and drink more water. Being hydrated is important for losing the love handles, and studies have shown sugary drinks lead to weight gain, especially around your waist.

5. Eat More Protein

Researchers from the University of South Australia have found that eating more protein results in greater weight loss than typical diets. The high protein diet was also shown to increase the retainment of lean body mass, meaning the excess weight loss was predominantly fat tissue.

Studies have also shown that people who eat more protein have less abdominal fat on average than those who eat less, so get some protein on the fork and cut back on high carb foods!
